Reflective Events’ My Secret Valentine returns for its fourth edition this Saturday February 10th. The Event will be headlined by the Denver Bass Music Heavy Hitter Detox Unit. This will mark the DJ’s first show of 2024, his first show since dropping his very different sounding mix from new years at Sermon + Rust, and his return to Atlanta after his triumphant set from Imagine Music Festival.
Up until a few days ago the location was kept secret. Reflective Events released a video with a QR code revealing the location as Bonfire ATL. I personally have never been there, but from the research I have done and all the different clips and videos from previous events held there I truly can not wait to see what Reflective Events has in store. Fire performers, vendors, interactive art installations, and a music lineup that has me salivating lays the groundwork for a truly special night.
Why I wanted to write a preview for this event is because A: Detox Unit is my favorite producer within the “Tipper n Friends” world, and B: What kind of set are we about to get? After his DJ set release from new years, will we see a return to form with the focus being on his usual bass heavy and hip-hop infused filthiness? Or will we get a blend of that plus this garage, breaks, and house sound he has brought to the table at new years? I was not fortunate enough to go to Imagine Music Festival this past September so I am hoping to get a heavy dose of the songs on his Liminal EP he released last year.
