Steel pan drums – not an instrument you get to see a lot, unless you live in or visit the Caribbean region a lot.  Jonathan Scales is a maestro on the steel pans and brings a rotating slate of musicians with him on each ‘Fourchestra’ tour.  Last fall, he brought an all-star team with him including Robert ‘Sput’ Searight (Snarky Puppy) on drum, MonoNeon (Prince) on bass, and Weedie Braimah (The Nth Power) on percussion.

When they came through Atlanta to Aisle 5, the large group there was treated to one of the best, highest energy shows of the year.  Apparently, the Asheville crowd agreed as captured in this excellent video from Barry2theB.  I particularly enjoy this one a it’s a Snarky Puppy tune with Sput included in the mix.  I’d love to see a future collaboration between Jonathan and Snarky Puppy, perhaps on Family Dinner, Volume 3?
