It’s that time of year just before the new years runs where we sit back and reflect on the year. This year to keep it interesting I am only going to choose one show per band so that my choices are not so much of only one band or another. 2018 marked one of my most heavy years of seeing live music and it has been a real pleasure looking back and reliving these amazing shows! 1. Spafford Jacksonville, FL 2/3/2018- The show that didn’t get a Nugs.net release. Sometimes you are just in the right place at the right time.Continue Reading

Chachuba, a four piece jamtronica band out of Chicago, released their new album “Lost the Mountain” September 4th and I was so blown away I just had to write down my thoughts. I have not seen this band live yet but plan to hit 3-5 shows as they come through the Southeast in the coming weeks. First and foremost, the production on this album is immaculate, particularly on the drums. Whether you’re going to listen through headphones or speakers, it is truly a beautiful audio experience trying to catch to each individual layer added to the songs. Whatever team ofContinue Reading

Night 1 The Disco Biscuits returned to Asheville after 8 years (last show 10/30/2010) for a 2 night stand at the Salvage Station. Salvage Station is an old salvage yard that has been transformed into a beautiful venue overlooking the French Broad River. All week weather forecasts had called for rain but as we arrived the first night the skies had settled for the moment and the band arrived on stage at 6:30 pm. Set one opened with Pink Floyd’s Run Like Hell served up as a great opening jam that got the creative juices flowing before getting to the vocalContinue Reading

Fresh off their new album release Stylo, Toubab Krewe returned to Atlanta for the first time in 4 years. Now with a full tour in the fall of 2017 and a handful of shows in 2018 since their 3 year hiatus, the Krewe had tight playing and was full of smiles on stage. They took Terminal West on a musical journey through their West African jam hybrid soundscapes. Songs like Maliba would transport me to the West African beaches and have me feeling like I was floating on water, only to take a turn halfway through the song and deliver psychedelic spaceContinue Reading

Papadosio began the last week of their spring tour last night at The SignalThe SignalThe Signal in Chattanooga Tennessee. Opening for Papadosio, and joining them for this final week, was Buffalo New York’s jam band Aqueous. This was a winning combination in my book, so I decided to make the drive from Atlanta to see what these two bands had in store. Aqueous opened the night with King for a Day which provided an excellent opening jam as people started coming in. King for a Day ended interestingly as guitarist Mike Gantzer had some technical difficulties with his amp andContinue Reading

“Never miss a Sunday show” is a saying concert goers live by, but it had a little extra weight at Atlanta’s Terminal WestTerminal West Sunday night April 29th. The Trey Anastasio Trio ended their spring tour run with a show dubbed “Sustain” a performance dedicated to Trey’s friend Chris Cottrell who passed away in January. The 600 Person venue was taken through a wide range of emotions all night. We cried, danced, and cheered as Big Red and company played their hearts out. First set started with Blaze On as the theme of life and death was immediately shown withContinue Reading

TAUKing McGee is a collaboration between the members of TAUK and Umphrey’s McGee and Atlanta was treated to one of these special shows as a late night at Variety Playhouse on Sunday night of Sweetwater’s 420 Fest. It was my first time getting the chance to see one of these special shows and I was legitimately blown away. The set began with just members of TAUK playing their originals Friction and Realize which set everyone back on track after being poured on by rain at the festival as well as continual rain as we stood in line to get in.Continue Reading

Atlanta just can’t get enough of Arizona’s Spafford these days. Just 3 months ago during their red-hot “For Amusement Only” tour Spafford sold out the 600 capacity venue Terminal West in a matter of minutes. Then Spafford turns around and sells out Variety Playhouse, a 1,100 person venue, in a matter of seconds for an afterparty for Atlanta’s Sweetwater 420 Fest. By the time 4/20 had come tickets could be found at a resale value of close to $100 and sometimes more. Needless to say expectations and a need to see the young band continues to soar and man didContinue Reading
