Kermit Ruffins is a New Orleans fixture and all around entertainer. As the owner of Kermit’s Treme Mother In Law Lounge, he is host, BBQ chef and master of ceremonies as well performer. He gained fame as an original member and co-founder of Rebirth Brass Band but left in the early ’90s to form his own band The Barbecue Swingers.
Kermit brought his voice, trumpet and all-around showmanship to Venkman’s in Atlanta to a full house and did not disappoint. He rolled out all the classics as well as a few of his own. He definitely brings back memories of the great Louis Armstrong. One of the highlights midway through the set was the introduction and 3 song roll of Nayo Jones.
